So a while back I heard about a type of body mod called Cell Popping through a group on Fetlife. The Mistress responsible for reawakening this art, ArtisticDomme, has a website as well where you can order a kit. So I decided to go ahead and order it.

This body mod is considered a temporary branding lasting anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. It is totally dependent on one’s healing  cycle. What is cell popping? Basically it is heating a small metal poker under a flame until it is glowing red and gently applying the poker to the skin for like 1 second. A design is chosen and outlined by a series of dots made by the poker.

Great, so my kit arrived. Now I needed a victim. I put up an add on Fetlife…to no avail Until I met the lovely LiquidRasberry at a play party. She had seen my post on Fetlife and was more then willing to try it. One week later she was at my place, desing in hand, and poking we did go! Check out the result.

She said it is obviously a bit painful, like a burn, but not that bad. She never once screamed or anything. As far as I know she is the first person in Montreal to receive cell popping. Bettie Page, a 1950s pinup known internationally for her raven-haired bangs and saucy come-hither looks, and a Fetish Icon the world over for her open and new posture on sexuality, was identified as in a coma in intensive care after suffering a heart attack.

The secretary-turned-model was admitted to hospital last month, suffering from pneumonia. She had a heart attack while there and never regained consciousness.

Page is credited with helping set the stage for the sexual revolution of the rebellious 1960s. She attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure that were tacked up on walls across the country. She featured in posters and photographs.

However not everyone was happy with the pictures. Some US lawmakers were concerned they amounted to pornography and subpoenaed Page to testify at a congressional hearing, although in the end she never had to appear.

Bettie Mae Page was born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1923. Her career took off after an amateur photographer in New York asked her to pose for pictures in 1950. Her photos included a centerfold in the January 1955 issue of then-fledgling Playboy magazine, as well as controversial sadomasochistic poses.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner called her a “very dear person”

“I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society,” Hefner was quoted as saying.

Page later spent decades away from the public eye, and during that time battled illness. She was married three times but had no children.

After resurfacing in the 1990s, she occasionally granted interviews but refused to allow her picture to be taken.Looking back on her career, she told Playboy in 1998: “I never thought it was shameful. I felt normal. It’s just that it was much better than pounding a typewriter eight hours a day, which gets monotonous.”

The announcement came late Friday Night.

“With deep personal sadness I must announce that my dear friend and client Bettie Page passed away at 1841 this evening in a Los Angeles hospital,” her agent Mark Roesler said.

“She captured the imagination of a generation with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality”, he said. “She is the embodiment of beauty”.

I have searched high and low for instruction to make a full leather hood without success. Really, I looked once in a while for a couple of weeks. Then I turned to my BDSM Toys Craft Corner group on Fetlife for help. Again, had some great suggestions but no one had A to Z instructions.

Well I gave it a shot with the ideas I had and now I will tell you how I did it. Hopefully many of you can benefit from it as well. It really helps if you know a bit about sewing. You will have to figure some thing out for yourself.

Now keep in mind that these instructions are to make a CUSTOM FITTED HOOD for the person who will wear it…and probably no one else. I tried this hood on others without success. Or you may make one and find you Cinderella sub for a glass slipper BDSM substitute lol.

1. Get some saran-wrap, tape, and rounded-edge scissors.

2. Time to mummify your head. Wrap your head up with saran-wrap completely. Make sure you have 2 layers when all done. Along the way make whole for you to breathe (its not a breath play session, you are making something here) and you can also cut out the eyes to see what you are doing.

3. Get your tape out and tape your head completely up everywhere. Cover all the saran-wrap. Again make holes to breathe.

4. Make one cut long enough to remove the hood. Tape the cut up. So now you end up (see pics below) with the 3D shape of your head.

5. Cut it into 3 pieces as show below. You will have a long rectangle (side and top of head), the front and the back. It won’t be flat. So make slits in the patterns to get a flat piece (see PINK arrows). Now you have a basic flat pattern to use.

6. Cut a rectangle that is about 4-5 inches wide and the length of the back of your hood. This will be the flap at the back.

7. Place your pattern on your leather and draw out our shapes.

8. Add a seam allowance, about 1/2 in everywhere, even on the slits…except on the big back closure slit. Add a few inches in length to the rectangle (mine was to short and I had to add a piece). Cut out your pieces and slits.

9. Star sewing up all your slits…except on the big back closure slit.

10. Sew the flap to the inside of the back piece (see blue lines above)

11. Sew your 3 pieces back together. For the back closure just fold back about 1/2 in and sew it down for a clean edge. The neck part may be a bit uneven so cut around it to make a straight line. I added a band of black leather for trim, just folded in half for a clean finish.

12. Cut out mouth, nose (a triangle) and eyes. For the mouth and eyes make tiny slits and fold back to sew the edge clean. The nose you need to add a bigger triangle sew into the two top triangle lines….cause if you just make a little hole your nose will be squashed inside. Anyways that is what I did.

Now you have the basic hood sewn up.

13. Time to make the back closure. I punched small holes every 1 inch and then attached little eyelets. Lace with a shoe lace.

14. If desired, make separate blindfold and mouth piece and add snaps so you can attach them to the hood for a sensory deprivation experience.

I wanted to share some of my latest gifts from my good long distance-sub boy brock. I am so not into online subing, but he is my exception to the rule. So this is the first part in my series of the book, The Unfair Sex, a handbook for girls about men, dating to the 1950s.

Oh my, where to begin? Firstly she mentions the ignorance of girls in face of men, which at that time was true, but then goes on to claim that those who have made efforts in study are rude! She mentions Freud and Kinsley. I may not agree with these men of study on some aspects, but would hardly call then rude!

She then mentions how women are unprepared to deal with the superior sex. WHAT? Later she says that women only frequent men to a) find a husband (ok true still in many cases) and b) that “nothing that is any fun can be done without a male escort”. I won’t even touch that one with a ten foot pole. But it shows indeed how at that time women were not seen as resourceful to make there fun and be independent.

Ok its the intro, so I am not going into great deliberations yet. Just quoting “shocking” stuff. the next comment is “surely no self-respecting woman would want complete freedom, such as men enjoy”. GGRRRR!

I end my first part of this series with the same signature the author leaves, claiming it as her wisdom to author such a book: a “woman of the world”.

I recently fell on a book in my own library I had forgotten about. Someone lent it to me, like 20 years ago. I can’t remember who. I read it as a joke back then. The book is:
